Trying to get my mind back in the thought of school and I've stumbled along a Scholastic site that I found useful in getting myself back to it. I really like the book suggestions. Being that it is only my second year of teaching, I am definitely still looking for ideas for getting the school year started. Any suggestions? Hope everyone is enjoying their summer :)
Head on over to Peace, Love and Learning to see the great birthday celebration freebie! I have been looking for a wonderful way to involve all of my students in the birthday celebration and the class book is a great idea! I am excited to try this in my classroom this year! :) Thanks Peace, Love and Learning!

We have been studying all sorts of animals in second grade and one was the bald eagle. We were lucky enough to find this live Eagle Cam to have the children see. It is wonderful- you must check it out! The cam is based out of Norfolk Botanical Gardens in Virginia. It shows three baby eagles that were born in mid March and the mother and father visit the nest quite frequently. There are some great FAQ's on the Norfolk Botanical Gardens site to check out as well that give more information regarding the history of the eagles and their nest. My students absolutely love check in on this on a regular basis. I hope you are able to share this with your students- it is a great learning opportunity!
